Congrats MissBossyPants! Thanks to everyone who entered the giveaway and to all my followers for being awesome. You guys are awesome! Let's see if I can get myself together for SewMamaSew's Giveaway day on Monday, shall we?
Now for some bad news. I went into my very favorite local fabric store, Fabrics On Mill Street on Wednesday to pick up some fabric to finish my quilt and things were looking rather sparse in there. I asked Jenny, one of the owners what was going on and she said that due to the economy they're shutting down their brick and mortar location and moving to online sales exclusively! Now, I know that's not bad news for those of you who don't live in my area, since you still get to benefit from their awesome taste in fabric selections in their online store, but for locals it is SO sad!
I've always loved their branding, they were the first local fabric store that I could actually spend HOURS in, their shop was decorated so beautifully and they always had beautiful modern fabrics. Plus, who wouldn't love talking shop with those two sisters? They are both experienced and talented seamstresses themselves with good taste to boot! Their shop is so cute, it was once even featured in an episode of "On the Road With Austin and Santino" when the Project Runway stars used the sewing loft for their workspace (And apparently napping spot as well?! Austin Scarlett's mom lives in the area so I suspect that's why our town was chosen. Also? We're adorable.)
Anyway, their last day at the storefront is January 28th. They're marking down a lot of their fabrics but some stuff will not be marked down as they are selling it in their online shop, which you should go check out. I spent WAY too much on fabric on Wednesday when I found out they were closing. What can I say? I'm an addict, and my dealer is closing up shop, it was a perfect storm.
The good news is that the Fabrics on Mill Street ladies will have more time to sew themselves, while still offering a great selection of fabric online, and you can benefit from their awesomeness too.
Be blessed!
