It's getting chilly around here! We've already had our first snow, back at the beginning of November, and are expecting another snow storm this Friday. Like clockwork, my 6-month-old is growing out of the two wearable blankets we received as gifts. So this week I whipped up a warmer and larger version of the wearable blankets that have kept baby Forrest cozy through the night using this tutorial at "Make It and Love It".
I got the giraffe print fleece at the open house sale at my local craft store. I got about 7 yards of various fabrics at that sale AND a triangle plastic guide thing for under $40! So now my stash is even bigger than it was. It was the perfect opportunity to grab some fleece to motivate me to get started on this project. The zipper, thread and snaps I already had on hand.
I made it a bit LONG, just because my little guy likes to push his feet on, well, whatever he can brace them on, and I wanted to give him some room to lengthen out in this. It fits a bit large so he has some room to grow into it.
This was SO fast and easy, I may make another so I have an extra for when the other is in the laundry. I can also see these being go-to baby shower gifts. It would be VERY easy to make one of these out of flannel or cotton for a lighter summer version. Maybe the next one I'll put a zipper in the bottom as well for quick diaper changes.
Now to get to work on his crib bedding!
Be blessed!
