I finally got around to making something that we've needed around here since last winter. I actually completed this project a few weeks ago, at the cost of a broken needle and a trip to the sewing machine hospital. Those heavy duty projects are no friend to my little white Janome.
This wood sling has proved very useful lately as it has been chilly enough to need a fire going in the wood stove in the mornings. I used ultra cheapo $3 a yard fabric from Walmart. I was dreaming of some pretty designer fabric and then I remembered how utilitarian this project is.
I used this tutorial from my Pinterest, substituting PVC pipe for the handles as it is cheaper than wood dowels. It does it's job quite well. (Now we just need to finish the trim around the hearth and put up a fence to keep babies out.)
My sewing machine is back from the shop so I'm finishing up the boys' costumes and reorganizing my craft room so my like-new machine will feel more at home. (It's become somewhat of a disaster zone in there what with life as of late, i.e. new weekend job, colds and all the repercussions of schedule changes and an under-the-weather set of parents. Hopefully we're on the mend!)
Be blessed.
